Why Japanese cars?
*Affordable relative to European manufacturers
*More emphasis on driving dynamics relative to American manufacturers
*Tunable engines with many aftermarket parts at reasonable prices
*Unique powerful engines such as straight-6, flat-4, and the rotary engines.
*The performance cars were more for car enthusiasts rather than for people of Hollywood
*Some cars had similar performances than cars with up to twice or three times the displacement
Why the 90’s era?
*Unique powerful engines such as 2JZ-GTE, RB26DET, 3S-GTE, SR20DET, 1JZ-GTE, 13B-REW, and F20C
*Due to the Japanese manufacturers’ gentleman’s agreement, it meant that cars were limited to 276 horsepower. This also meant that Japanese car manufacturers couldn’t use horsepower as a crutch and they had to improve their cars in different ways such as suspension systems.
*Sleek, unique, and clean design that majority of manufacturers of today seem to lack
*Sports coupes, hatchbacks, and wagons were abundant unlike today’s crossover SUV
*Many cars used turbo-charging terms of performance or used high revving naturally aspirated engines
*Manual transmission were more abundant to enhance the driving experience
