Honda Accord Type-R CL1

Honda Accord Type-R CH1
The Honda Accord Type-R was introduced in 1998 and was a competitor for the midsize performance market. Unlike its competitors, the Honda Accord Type-R used a naturally aspirated 2.2L inline-4 engine that powered the front wheels (while cars like the Mitsubishi Galant VR-4, Nissan Bluebird SSS limited Attesa, and the Subaru Legacy B4 were AWD and Turbocharged). The Accord Type-R was typically less popular than other Honda performance models due to its heavy weight for a front weight drive car, uncommon H22 engine, based on a family sedan, and the fact that it never came to North America. The Accord Type-R was however used in the British Touring Car races. The only variation that came to the North American market was the Acura TSX, which was a watered down version of the Euro-R built mainly around comfort and luxury. Despite some of its shortcomings, the Honda Accord Type-R can still compete with its brothers the Integra Type-R and Civic Type-R.
